Chinikidiadi Project
The Chinikidiadi Family came to H.O.T. Youth in need of landscaping around their home. Mr. Chinikidiadi had attempted many times to landscape his yard and each time he attempted he ended up in the Emergency Room with an allergic reaction from a red fire ant bite. His reaction is severe, his throat starts to close and he cannot breathe well. H.O.T. Youth came out to assess what was needed to help this family get ready for their daughters 1st birthday party that they were having outside in their back yard in less than 2-3 weeks. They were feeling under the circumstances it was not going to happen in time. The yard needed several things, mowing, weed pulling, hedge trimming, clean flower beds & then the fun part the "cosmetics." H.O.T. Youth proceeded to buy bedding plants & shrubs', grass seed & decorative rocks, flower pots, fertilizer & most importantly a bottle of Fire Ant killer to spread throughout the yard. This project took about 15 or so volunteers & 2- week night evenings totaling about 4 hours. Not only did the yard turn out beautifully, it was ready for the birthday party!!! It's absolutely amazing when a group of people come together, the amazing outcome. The Chinikidiadi's were so grateful, to them, this was more than just mowing a lawn to them they actually stated, "no one has ever done something like that for us!" It doesn't get any better than that! |
